Beginner Voice Lessons & RCM Group Preparation
This is the bridge from early childhood music classes to structured vocal performance. Our Beginner Voice program is designed for students aged 8+ who are ready to build healthy technique, understand music theory, and work towards recognized external goals like the Royal Conservatory of Music (RCM) Examinations.
Our group lessons in Sunnyvale provide a supportive, small-class environment where students receive personalized attention while benefiting from peer learning and performance practice.

RCM Voice Curriculum
The Royal Conservatory of Music (RCM) system provides the gold standard in music education, offering a structured pathway for vocal students. We integrate RCM criteria into our beginner group classes to provide a clear sense of progress and accomplishment.

What are RCM Examinations? RCM exams assess performance, technique (scales and vocalises), sight-reading, and ear training, culminating in a globally recognized certification. Understanding the RCM process helps us set achievable, high-level goals. You can learn more about the structure of these examinations on the official RCM Website.
Our Curriculum Focus

-
Fundamental Technique: Establishing breath control, supported tone, and healthy registration (head voice, chest voice).
-
Music Literacy: Learning to read music notation and understand basic theory as it applies to vocal performance.
-
Performance Readiness: Building confidence by performing in front of peers regularly, preparing students for recitals and competitions.
What Comes Next?
As a student progresses, their vocal needs become more individualized and complex. Our beginner program prepares students for the focused work required in Intermediate & Advanced Private Lessons, where competitive goals and specialized repertoire selection become the priority.
